Nikki's journey
My journey began back in 2013. I was heavily pregnant with my first baby when I came across placenta encapsulation. It made complete sense, I knew that in the natural kingdom all mammals ate their placenta after giving birth, but I figured that mirroring the process for human consumption would be a complicated process, adding more stress to the pregnancy.
So there I was with my beautiful baby boy, but following a complicated labour I lost a significant amount of blood, was left with permanent pudenial nerve damage and not to mention having had no proper sleep for 5 days whilst in hospital.
I bled for weeks, felt empty and had no energy. My milk had taken 5 long days to finally come in. Ultimately this all aggregated and led to postnatal depression, but I never questioned any of it, not once, I always assumed it was to be expected as “you've just had a baby”…
I then fell pregnant with my second son in 2014. I knew instantly that this time I wanted my placenta made into capsules. So after eventually finding a specialist, I was all booked in.
I can honestly say, with my hand on my heart, that my recovery was unbelievable. I had opted for placenta smoothies and capsules. After my first smoothie my milk came in within 30 minutes. Each smoothie felt like it was revitilising and healing me from within. I actually began to crave them, them one after the other, I still get that craving now, all these years later…
I began taking my capsules, which gave me what I can only describe as a deep rush of pure love.
I felt on top of the world, even though I'd had a c-section and was also caring for a 14 month old. My c-section healed impeccably, I hardly bled this time, but most importantly, I never suffered the baby blues or post natal depression.
I knew this was my vocation, I had to offer placenta encapsulation to other mummies, so they too could benefit from this natural, miraculous product.
And… in 2018, Cherished Placentas was born and has grown strength from strength.
